FRENCH I | Basic language skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing will be introduced. Students should expect to participate actively in listening and speaking activities designed to develop the new language pattern necessary in learning French.
FRENCH II | Students will expand basic language skills enough to be able to express more complex ideas in French. Students will demonstrate knowledge of common, everyday cultural situations in order to satisfy wants and needs.
FRENCH III (HONORS) | At this level, students will continue their grammatical study of tenses and expand vocabulary in French. They will demonstrate understanding through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. Reading will be expanded to short stories, plays, poetry, and writing skills, and will include a variety of topics grounded in personal experience.
FRENCH IV (HONORS) | Students will continue to focus on oral proficiency and advanced grammatical structures. Students will analyze and discuss novels, articles, and documents in the target language. Writing skills will be used to convey the students’ thoughts and opinions.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT/ADVANCED STUDIES IN FRENCH LANGUAGE (HONORS) | Students will continue to focus on the five skills of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, writing and culture. Attention will be on oral proficiency, writing, and advanced grammatical structures. Francophone literature will be the device used to enforce these areas.

SPANISH I | Basic language skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, and writing will be introduced. The spoken language will be used extensively. Students should expect to participate actively in listening and speaking activities designed to develop the new language pattern necessary in learning Spanish.
SPANISH I FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS | This class is designed for native speaker students who can understand and communicate in Spanish. This class will focus on basic language skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students should expect to participate actively in all four language skills, in Spanish.
SPANISH II | Students will expand basic language skills enough to be able to express more complex ideas in Spanish. Students will demonstrate knowledge of common, everyday cultural situations in order to satisfy wants and needs. The past tense will be emphasized.
SPANISH II FOR NATIVE SPEAKERS | This class is a continuation of Spanish I – for native speakers of Spanish. This class will expand on intermediate language skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. Students will be expected to participate actively in all four language skills, in Spanish.
SPANISH III (HONORS) | At this level, students will continue their grammatical study of all tenses, and expand vocabulary in Spanish. They will demonstrate understanding through listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities. Reading will be expanded to short stories, plays, poetry, and writing skills, and will include a variety of topics grounded in personal experience.
SPANISH IV (HONORS) | This is a pre AP course. Advanced comprehensive study and review of the Spanish language with an emphasis placed on structure, conversation, reading and composition. Various works of Spanish and Latin American will be studied in depth.
ADVANCED PLACEMENT/ADVANCED STUDIES IN SPANISH LANGUAGE (HONORS) | Students will continue the focus on the five skills of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, writing, and culture. Attention will be on oral proficiency and advanced grammatical structures with emphasis on the various tenses of the subjunctive mode.
