Early Childhood Development & Services Pathway
HUMAN GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT EARLY YEARS | This is a class for young people who are interested in the study of human life cycle and its relationship to quality living.
LIFE SPAN DEVELOPMENT | Human Growth and Development B builds upon the topics begun in Human Growth and Development A. The major focus of the course will be the understanding of life span (from conception to death) transitions and strategies that may be used to build personal, family and community social and mental health.
FAMILY STUDIES | A basic human need is that of relationships with others and parents serve as the child’s earliest teacher. This course emphasizes building and maintaining healthy interpersonal relationships especially in the family setting.
YOUNG CHILD FOUNDATIONS | The course is designed to review knowledge gained in Human Growth and Development A (B optional) and Family Studies then apply this learning to child care settings. Students will learn about the many child care career options and develop skills necessary for working in these settings.
YOUNG CHILD FUNCTIONS | The application level course of the Early Childhood Development Pathway, this course allows students Professional Learning Experiences in real world settings. Students will work with early childhood professionals to practice skills necessary for site management, curriculum planning and implementation, and child supervision.
Education & Teaching Pathway

TEACHER CADET | Students will explore the teaching profession in a variety of settings as identified by interest inventory, multiple intelligence and learning style surveys.
TEACHER CADET ADVANCED | Students will choose a grade level and/or content area they are interested in as a career option. Each student will actively observe, assist, engage, identify and apply instructional strategies and practices during this Professional Learning Experience.
CAREER AND LIFE PLANNING | This course will introduce students to the skills and strategies needed to be focused, productive individuals. Emphasis is placed on goal setting, decision making, time and personal management.
COACHING AND LEADERSHIP | These courses examine specific topics in education other than those already described, such as management of school-age children, rather than providing a general study of the teaching profession.
Hospitality & Tourism Pathway
CULINARY ESSENTIALS | The entry level course for the hospitality pathway, this course serves as the introduction to sanitation, safety, and skills needed in food preparation.
FOOD SCIENCE | This course is an introduction to the fascinating study of food chemistry and food technology. This course is a study of the production, processing, purpose, and evaluation of food. Basic lab procedures and safety practices will also be introduced.
BAKING & PASTRY I | This course is designed to give a thorough overview to the baking and pastry portion of the overall industry. Topics include baking science, ingredient function and methods used for a quality product based upon industry standards. Baking and pastry skills that will be acquired in this course include specialty breads, specialty pastries, cakes, frosting, icing techniques, pies, and etc.
CULINARY ARTS 1 | The technical level course in the hospitality pathway is designed to give students the opportunity to further their knowledge in foods, nutrition and preparation. Course topics include advanced sanitation and safety, maintenance of equipment, recipe management, consumer resource management and careers.
CULINARY ARTS 2 | Culinary Arts 2 is designed for the student working toward a career in the hospitality industry. Culinary Arts 2 will expand skills learned in Arts 1 and add skills in topics such as event management, internal and external customer service and working with special dietary needs.
CULINARY APPLICATIONS | This course is designed to increase the student’s knowledge and skills of the food industry. Food industry skills that will be acquired in this course include: cake decorating, bread dough shaping and dough art, pasta making and use, soups and sauces and knife skills.
CULINARY CAREER CONNECTIONS 1 | This course will provide community/culinary work-based and school-based learning experiences. Learning goals are set by the student and the teacher to create experiences that enhance the development of workplace skills, needed to be successful in culinary related fields.

Learning goals are set by the student and the teacher to create experiences that enhance the development of workplace skills, needed to be successful in culinary related fields.
