Digital Media (Audio/Video Production) Pathway

INTRODUCTION TO WEB & MEDIA DESIGN | Web Design courses explore the creative and conceptual aspects of designing and developing interactive, multimedia web sites that emphasize the principles of graphic design, interactivity and usability. Students learn about a variety of visual, navigational and structural approaches to navigation systems, visual hierarchy, basic animation, image preparation and file transferring protocols.

AUDIO/VIDEO PRODUCTION I | Students will create professional quality, creative videos using Canon 80 D cameras and the editing platform, Adobe Premiere Pro. Students will learn technical videography skills needed to produce quality videos for a variety of uses.

AUDIO/VIDEO PRODUCTION II |  Students will be exposed to the entire production process, including developing project goals, setting up mobile studios and acting as a videographer, reporter and/or editor to produce fun and modern video creations.

Digital Media (Journalism) Pathway

INTRODUCTION TO WEB & MEDIA DESIGN | Web Design courses explore the creative and conceptual aspects of designing and developing interactive, multimedia web sites that emphasize the principles of graphic design, interactivity and usability. Students learn about a variety of visual, navigational and structural approaches to navigation systems, visual hierarchy, basic animation, image preparation and file transferring protocols.

PHOTOJOURNALISM | Photojournalism teaches the technical skills needed to produce quality images for use in a variety of applications. Topics include use of equipment, software and techniques to take, edit and manipulate images.

21ST CENTURY JOURNALISM |  Topics will include an exploration of the role media and the communications industry has in society, the development of the technical skills related to journalistic writing and interviewing, as well as understanding the ethical and legal issues related to the field.

DIGITAL MEDIA TECHNOLOGY |  Topics include exploring the use of digital imaging and video today and in the future, a study of the relationship of workflow to project planning and completion and the software, equipment and tools used in the industry.

MEDIA & PUBLIC RELATIONS |  This course will build skills needed to communicate messages to the public as it relates to topics of concern involving government and public administration.

Graphic Design Pathway

Students learn about a variety of visual, navigational and structural approaches to navigation systems, visual hierarchy, basic animation, image preparation and file transferring protocols.

GRAPHIC DESIGN I | Graphic Design I provides a basic understanding of the graphic design process. Topics include analyzing the design elements and principles, exploring industry tools, software and equipment and learning composition techniques to develop a quality product.

GRAPHIC DESIGN II | Commercial Graphic Design course teaches students to use artistic techniques to effectively communicate ideas and information to business and customer audiences via illustration and other forms of digital or printed media. Topics covered may include concept design, layout, paste-up and techniques such as engraving, etching, silkscreen, lithography, offset, drawing and cartooning, painting, collage and computer graphics.

GRAPHIC DESIGN III | This course will provide an in-depth understanding of the graphic design process. Topics include advanced composition and exploration of design concepts using advanced industry standard equipment and software. This course will involve the development of and creation of advanced designs for print, web and video media.

Web & Digital Communications (Animations) Pathway

INTRODUCTION TO WEB & MEDIA DESIGN | Web Design courses explore the creative and conceptual aspects of designing and developing interactive, multimedia web sites that emphasize the principles of graphic design, interactivity and usability. Students learn about a variety of visual, navigational and structural approaches to navigation systems, visual hierarchy, basic animation, image preparation and file transferring protocols.

ANIMATION I | This course will teach students the basics of animation, from design to final rendering of videos. The course focuses on the fundamental aspects of creating and modeling of objects using industry-recognized animation software (Autodesk Maya). Projects designed by students in this class will demonstrate their knowledge of animation integration in different projects that fall into different industries.

ANIMATION II | Students will expand upon their fundamental knowledge of animation in this course. Students will gain a more in-depth understanding of techniques and problem solving skills when designing and creating real-world projects.

ANIMATION III | Animation III provides students with the opportunity to explore the capability of the computer to produce visual imagery and to apply graphic techniques to various fields, such as advertising, TV/video, and architecture. Typical course topics include modeling, simulation, animation, and image retouching.

SIMULATIONS, GAME DESIGN & AUTHORING THE WEB | Students in this course will be presented with fundamental principles of game design and web authoring using animation software (Autodesk Maya), along with gaming software (Unity). Students will also be introduced to web page designing software and create a web portfolio of work they have done over their high school career.
